[German]Microsoft Microsoft has released a batch of Out-of-band updates to fix the printer issues that occurred after the last patchday in Windows 8.1 as well as Windows 10 – including its server counterparts. Updates are now available for Windows 10 version 1803 to 1909.
After June 2020 updates users can’t print
I had mentioned it in the blog post Windows 10: Printer issues after June 2020 Updates. The cumulative security updates released on June 9, 2020 for various Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 versions as well as the corresponding server versions lead to serious printing issues for many users. The printer spooler crashed and the users couldn’t print anymore.
Meanwhile, on the status page of Windows 10 version 2004, Microsoft has confirmed the issue with printing for all cumulative security updates for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 and their server counterparts.
New updates should solve the printing bug
I just found an announcement on Twitter from the Microsoft Social Media Team for Windows Update announcing optional updates to fix the printer bug.
An out-of-band optional update is now available for the following versions of Windows 10 on the Microsoft Update Catalog to address a known issue in which certain printers may be unable to print after installing updates released June 9, 2020.

On June 16, 2020, Microsoft released the following optional updates to correct the printer issue that is caused by the June 2020 security update
- KB4567512 for Windows 10 Version 1903 and Version 1909
- KB4567513 for Windows 10 Version 1809
- KB4567514 for Windows 10 Version 1803
For the respective updates, the linked KB articles describe the problems that have been fixed:
Updates an issue that might prevent certain printers from printing, generate print errors, or cause apps and print spoolers to close unexpectedly.
The updates are only available for download in the Microsoft Update Catalog (search for the KB numbers – the links can also be found in the KB articles linked above). On the Windows 10 status page the updates are summarized again. It states that further optional updates for the other affected Windows versions will be released in the coming days.
Note: Beware of update KB4559309 for the new Chromium Edge. According to this comment from EP here within the blog ‘printer will not print after update 15 June KB4559309, which installed without asking’. And there is no uninstall option for this update.
Addendum: I also got the following feedback from blog reader Peter, after I pointed him out the patches:
only partial success with the first customer (1903).
Update installed. Printer not visible in either the new or the old Control Panel.
Printer reinstalled. Result: Still not visible.
But it prints from applications. But there the printer entry is now even shown double.
For example, Word print, printer selection. But not in the Control Panel. So the Microsoft tool is bungled.
Anyone with similar experiences?
