Windows 10: Microcode Updates May 15, 2019

Microsoft has released microcode updates for Windows 10 V1607 through 1803 and Windows Server 2019. These are revised versions of Intel Microcode updates that have been rolled out in previous months.

The Intel microcode updates delivered and validated by Microsoft address the following side channel attacks.

  • Spectre Variant 3a (CVE-2018-3640: “Rogue System Register Read (RSRE)”)
  • Spectre Variant 4 (CVE-2018-3639: “Speculative Store Bypass (SSB)”)
  • L1TF (CVE-2018-3620, CVE-2018-3646: “L1 Terminal Fault”)
